Jon R. Ray, General Counsel of Lasso Partners, has practiced energy law for the past thirty years. He is responsible for deal execution, due diligence, investment structuring and monitoring, coordinating outside legal advisors, legal compliance issues and administration. Mr. Ray has worked with the Orr Entities for over ten years. Mr. Ray is currently head of the Energy and Natural Resources Law Department at the law firm of Cox Smith Matthews Incorporated, where he has practiced energy law since 1977. Prior to joining Cox Smith Matthews, Mr. Ray was employed as an engineering and geological technical assistant by an oil and gas producer with major holdings in the Texas Gulf Coast region. He is Board Certified in Oil, Gas and Mineral Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. Mr. Ray holds a B.A. in Mathematics, cum laude, from Trinity University and a J.D. from St. Mary’s University School of Law, with distinction.
